2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Coolant Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Coolant Reservoir on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: You should drain enough coolant out of the system to empty the degas container first. Take off the clamps that bound the supply and return hoses to the container and take out the hoses. Loosen the coolant container to fan shroud mounting bolts, position the container back until the mounting pin locking features disengage and then lift the container from the fan shroud. For mounting, place the mounting pins through the fan shroud slots and push in the container. Attach the coolant container's mounting pins to the fan shroud, tighten them to 8.5 Nm (75 in. lbs.) and make sure the locking portion on the pins has latched correctly. Hook up the supply and return hoses to the container, making sure the hose clamps are in place, before re-filling the system.
