2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service and Repair a Brake Line on 2003 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: For repair and service of brake hoses and lines, a performed metal brake tube is suggested for all cases; however, a double-wall steel tube may be used for repairs in emergencies when OEM parts are not accessible. Make use of the Tubing Cutter to remove the fractured tube and use a reamer to smooth out the edges around the cut. Install the new tube nut on your tube and then put the tube in the flaring tool. Put the gauge form on the end of the tube, insert the tube into the jaws of the flaring tool until it hits the recessed section that fits its diameter and tighten the tool bar firmly on the tube. Slide the flared end of the gauge into the top of the tube, move the compression disc so that it covers the gauge and put the tapered flaring screw into the center of the compression disc. Firmly tighten the handle while the plug gauge is still seated and once removed, complete the inverted flare with the tip of the tube. For ISO flaring, is preferable to use a reformed metal brake tube and initially you remove the damaged tube and remove any inside burrs as you would for other types. Attach the tube nut to the tube, put it in the flaring tool so that it covers the top bar, then press the tool bar upwards. On the flaring tool yoke screw, screw on the adaptor that fits your size, smear grease on it, put the adaptor in place on the tube and continue to screw in the yoke screw until the adaptor is seating properly on the tool bar.
