2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee ABS Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an ABS Control Module in the Hydraulic Control Assembly for Antilock Brakes on 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: You should start the repair by taking off the negative battery wire and adjusting the air cleaner housing to give access. Afterwards, squeeze down on the CAB connector release to pull them off, then separate the brake lines from the HCU. Get the side mounting bolt and both rear mounting bolts out of HCU/CAB and then take it off the vehicle. Should a new CAB be installed, it should be reprogrammed using an ORB 111. Place the HCU/CAB into its slot in the mounting bracket and hold it in place by tightening the mounting bolts to a torque of 12 Nm or 9 ft. lbs. Secure the brake lines to the HCU and tighten them to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.), after which connect the CAB harness and push down on the connector until it releases. Reconnect the housing for the air cleaner, secure the negative battery cable and go next to bleed both brake systems.
