2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Speed Sensor on the Front Wheel on 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before handling the front wheel speed sensor, you need to lift and support the vehicle. Take out the bolt from the front wheel sensor's mounting point and pick up the sensor from the steering knuckle. Next, pull the sensor wire away from the brackets attached to the steering knuckle. Unplug the sensor from the sensor harness and then pull the sensor and wire out. To install, attach the sensor again to the steering knuckle and put Mopar Lock N' Seal or Loctite 242 on the sensor bolt. Tighten the sensor's mounting bolt to 12 - 14 Nm which is about 106 - 124 in. pounds. Mount the grommets on the sensor wire to the steering knuckle brackets and then attach the sensor wire to the harness connector. Do not let the sensor wire come in contact with parts on the chassis and avoid twisting or bending it. After that, take away the support and let the vehicle down.
