2003 Jeep Liberty Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for Pressure Hose on 2003 Jeep Liberty?
A: The first part of servicing the power steering pressure hose is to drain the power steering fluid from the reservoir. Then, separate the radiator crossmember, fan and fan shroud, before you remove the serpentine belt. Take the pressure hose off the pump and disconnect the pressure switch electrical connector from the pressure hose. Pull the pressure hose off of the gear and remove the mounting bracket screws located behind the headlamp assembly. After disconnecting the pressure hose, take out the power steering pressure switch if it is needed. First, fit the pressure hose back in the vehicle and tighten the bolts of the mounting bracket behind the headlamps to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). Connect the end of the hose to the filter housing gear and tighten it to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) and then join the switch's electrical wires. At first, install the pressure hose at the pump and torque it to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.), then assemble the serpentine belt, fan shroud, fan and radiator crossmember. You should also add more power steering fluid at the end of the process.
