2003 Jeep Liberty Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Thermostat on 2003 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before working on the thermostat, drain the system below where the housing is located. After that, take out the thermostat, disconnect the sensor for engine coolant temperature and remove the heater hose supply from the car. The next step is to loosen and remove the housing attaching bolts and pull out the housing and gasket. Before installing the gasket and the housing, clean the gasket sealing surfaces and make sure that tightening the bolts gets them to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). After that, add the engine coolant temperature sensor, secure the thermostat and top off the cooling system with fluid.
