2003 Jeep Liberty Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Rear Wiper Arm on 2003 Jeep Liberty?
A: At first, you should remove the rear wiper arm pivot cover by lifting it from the rear wiper motor output shaft end. Take out the nut that holds the wiper arm to the rear wiper motor shaft. Should it be needed, insert a battery terminal puller (also known as a wiper arm removal tool) to detach the wiper arm from the rear wiper motor output shaft's splines and then remove the spare tire from the tailgate to access this area. When you have disengaged the wiper blades, take out the pivot end from the end of the motor shaft. When you are installing the wiper motor, make sure the wiper is in Park. Adjust the rear wiper arm against the motor output shaft while the wiper arm is held by the support on the park ramp and the arm's tapered hole is lined up with the motor output shaft. Make sure that the tab is on the back of the rear wiper arm support on the tailgate park ramp in the Installation Position. The wiper arm should be in this position; next, push down on the tapered hole so it fits over the rear wiper motor shaft. Secure the rear wiper arm to the wiper motor output shaft with a nut and tighten it to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.). After that, place the rear wiper arm pivot cover back. In the end, raise the rear wiper arm support and place it back into the Park Position on the park ramp.
