2004 Jeep Liberty Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Front Wiper Arm on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before replacing a front wiper arm, lift the front wiper arm up to its highest point, where it balances, to hold the wiper blade away from the window. Gently remove the plastic nut cap attached to the wiper arm's pivot end and also take off the nut holding the wiper arm to the wiper pivot shaft. Should you need to, use an appropriate battery terminal puller to disconnect the wiper arm from the wiper pivot shaft. After that, remove the front end of the wiper arm pivot from the same shaft. Before installing, rotate the ignition switch to ON and move the knob on the wiper control stalk on the right to OFF, so the motor stops. Once both wipers are still, turn your ignition switch back to OFF. Move the wiper arms at the front so that their pivot ends are lined up with the slim wiper shafts when the wiper motor is placed in the park position. Additionally, place the tip of each blade along the lower T-shaped wiper alignment lines on the glass. Gently raise the wiper arm to ease stress on the spring and push the hole at the wiper arm's end over the pivot shaft of the wiper. Add the nut to the wiper arm that is secured to the wiper pivot shaft and tighten it until you reach 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Dampen the windshield with water, use the front wipers, turn them off, test the arm position and adjust them as required. After that, replace the plastic nut cap over the wiper arm pivot nut.
