2004 Chrysler 300M Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Oil Pan on 2004 Chrysler 300M?
A: First, take out the negative cable from the remote jumper terminal and then remove the dipstick and tube. Don't forget to raise the car on a hoist and take out the engine oil. After that, take out the back structural collar, uncouple the engine oil cooler line that attaches to the oil pan and unclip the transmission oil cooler lines befo Wash the oil pan and coatings on all gaskets. Put a 1/8 inch line of Mopar Engine RTV GEN II along the oil pump housing and rear seal retainer parting line and then assemble the oil pan gasket to the engine block. Start by adding the oil pan and its bolts, then add the structural collar, putting in the vertical collar to oil pan bolts and preset them to 1.1 Nm (10 in. lbs.) and after that, put in the horizontal collar using transmission bolts and torque them to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). First tighten the bolts found in the center horizontally, then do the same with the markers on the outside until you reach 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) for all bolts. Lower down the car, refit the tube and dipstick, add the correct oil till the dipstick reads the proper amount and link the battery cable back to its negative terminal.
