The first step toward choosing the proper exhaust manifold is disconnecting the negative battery cable and removing the air cleaner housing. Bring up the car, then remove the lower screws and take the splash shield off the vehicle. The next job is to take out the right catalytic converter, then remove the nuts attaching the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head, then the exhaust manifold and remove all the gaskets from below. First, set the manifold and gaskets onto the cylinder head, then attach the manifold nuts and tighten them by hand until they reach 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). Install the right side catalytic converter, then add the lower splash shield and screw it in tightly using 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). With the vehicle lowered once more, fit the air cleaner in its place, hook the negative cable back to the battery and crank the engine to see if it leaks exhaust.
