  A: Before you service the muffler, wait until the exhaust system is cool, since it gets very hot, particularly near the catalytic converter. Lift the vehicle and give support to the rear end of the exhaust system. Pull out the bolts from the center connection flange, unhook the ground strap at the muffler and remove the pipe attached to the exhaust hanger. Take off the rubber exhaust hangers and pull out the muffler as well as the pipe. It's time to lay the muffler component on top of the rubber rubber exhaust hangers and fasten the center exhaust flange's bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Reattach the ground wire to the muffler and tail pipe, tighten it with 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.). After that, take out the support and bring the car down to the ground.
