2004 Chrysler Crossfire EGR Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix the EGR Valve on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: First, you should disconnect the negative battery and then take off the air cleaner housing. After that, detach the solenoid harness connector and remove the vacuum line going to the solenoid. Loosen the nut at the EGR tube flange, then the solenoid to valve mounting bolt and finally all the bolts attaching the valve to the cylinder head. Wash the gasket parts and throw away the worn gasket, then clean the EGR lines if you have to. Place the new gasket around the valve and the back of the cylinder head. Then keep the valve bolt loose and not tightened as you complete installation. Hold the solenoid up to the valve and insert the solenoid to valve bolt yet do not tighten it. Fit the rear bolt from the valve into the cylinder head, then fasten the EGR tube flange nut to the valve. Put each of the valve to cylinder head bolts at 31 N.m (23 ft. lbs.), each flange nut at 11 N.m (95 in. lbs.) and each solenoid to valve bolt at 11 N.m (95 in. lbs.). Last, attach the solenoid harness connector, hose off the vacuum system, put the air cleaner housing back and reconnect the negative battery cable.
