2004 Chrysler Crossfire Oil Pan Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Upper Oil Pan on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: You should start by taking out the engine and splitting up the transmission and if there is a clutch, remove that as well. Fasten the engine to a stand and loosen and remove the lower oil pan. After that, take out the 24 upper oil pan bolts and disconnect the upper oil pan from the engine block. Carefully clean the gasket areas so that any parts using gaskets are joined within ten minutes of applying the sealant. Coat the oil pan sealing surface with a .56 to .78 mm bead of Loctite 5203 or an equal sealant. Place the upper oil pan on the engine and then mount its bolts, using M6 X 20, M6 X 40, M6 X 90 and M6 X 30 sizes. Tighten the bolts that measure M6 with a torque of 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.), as shown in the diagram, then add an extra torque of 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.) to each bolt, while following the same diagram. At last, reattach the lower oil pan, attach the clutch if it's needed, install the transmission on the engine and then install the engine in its location.
