2004 Chrysler Crossfire Camshaft Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Camshaft on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: The repair or servicing of the camshaft involves removing the camshaft bearing bridges and removing the camshaft afterward (1). Use a suitable solvent to clean the camshaft. Check the camshaft bearing journals for signs of damage or binding; if you see binding, check the cylinder head for harm and verify that no oil holes have been obstructed. Check both the camshaft lobe and the bearings for signs of wear or damage and if any issues appear, replace the camshaft. Measure the wear on the lobe and change the cam if it goes above either 0.001 in. (0.0254 mm) or 0.010 in. (0.254 mm), the standard or maximum wear limit. Place the camshaft (1) atop the cylinder head and then install the camshaft bearing bridges.
