2004 Chrysler Crossfire Radiator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Effectively Maintain and Repair a Radiator on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Before you service or repair the radiator, first unhook the negative battery cable, next remove the radiator fan and drain the coolant. Following this, unplug the air cleaner inlet tubes, disconnect the upper radiator hose, the lower radiator hose and the coolant recovery reservoir hose. Unattach the lines from the transmission cooler and link them together with the coupler on automatic transmissions. After detaching the radiator hold down clamps, tilt the radiator ahead, remove the A/C condenser to the radiator bolts and then remove the radiator from the vehicle. Gently spray the back of the radiator with cold and compressed air while the engine is not running to sweep away dust or grime. Check to see if the cooling fins have any damage, as damaged fins usually reduce the machine's capacity to cool, allowing the machine to become overheated. Be sure to inspect the plastic end tanks for any cracks, harm or leaking water. It's best to start installing the radiator by filling the vehicle, connecting the lower radiator hose (7) to the reservoir hose (5) and then the upper hose (4). Secure the A/C condenser with the retaining bolts, tighten them to 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.), fit the radiator retaining clamp (1) and the radiator fan. If a transmission cooler is present, attach the lines, set in the cooling system air inlet tubes, refill the system and put the negative battery cable back on. Turn your engine on briefly and then check the coolant level again.
