2004 Chrysler Pacifica Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Position Sensor on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Start by taking out the Throttle Position Sensor's negative battery cable before proceeding with service. After that, pull the TPS electrical connector off, remove the screws holding the TPS in place and remove the TPS. Insert the throttle shaft end into the TPS which is held in place by two tabs inside that socket. Make sure the throttle shaft touches these tabs and the TPS rotates just a little clockwise so the screw holes match those in the throttle body. If the throttle position sensor is tough to rotate, put it in place with the throttle shaft on the other side of the tabs. Do not tighten the mounting screws more than 5.1 N-m (45 in. lbs.) of torque. Make sure the throttle plate is closed following installation; if it is open, install the sensor on the side opposite the tabs. After that, link the electrical connector to the TPS and plug the negative battery cable back in.
