2004 Chrysler Pacifica Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Disconnect and Replace an Oxygen Sensor on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Two heated oxygen sensors are used in the engine, so be careful not to tug on the wire when disconnecting the electrical connector from the sensor. You should start by removing the negative battery wire and the heated oxygen sensor's electrical connector. Remove the oxygen sensor by using Snap-On YA8875 or a crow foot wrench. Be sure to clear the RAM memory by either removing the PCM C-1 connector or disconnecting the negative battery terminal shortly before installing a new O2 sensor, because failing to do so may cause driveability problems. Once you've taken out the sensor, clear out the threads on the HDMI port with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. To protect the threads if reusing the original sensor, apply an anti-seize compound, but avoid using it on OEM sensors that are supplied pre-coated. Tighten the sensor to a value of 28 N-m (20 ft. lbs.) and connect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector. Attach the wiring clip to the heat shield and then reconnect the negative battery cable.
