2004 Dodge Dakota Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Intake Manifold on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before handling the intake manifold, pull out the negative battery cable and take the resonator assembly and air inlet hose out. Cut the cables connecting the throttle and speed control, together with the electrical plugs for the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor and IAC Motor. Following that, remove the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose and Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose. Also, disconnect the electrical wires going to the generator and air conditioning compressor and both radio suppressor straps on the left and right sides. Get rid of the ignition coil towers, the bolt that holds the top oil dipstick tube and the ground strap. Take time to bleed the fuel lines, pull out the fuel rail and remove both the throttle body and bracket. Drain the liquid from the heating system as soon as the coolant temperature is below red, lift out the heater hoses from the engine front and the heater core and remove both clips and hoses from the intake manifold. Opening sequence requires you to first remove the intake manifold's retaining fasteners, then the coolant temperature sensor from the intake. When mounting, first insert the intake manifold gaskets, then fasten the intake manifold with bolts tightened to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). After reinstalling the left and right radio suppressor straps, put on the throttle body assembly. After that, hook the throttle cable and the speed control cable to the throttle body and put in the fuel rail and ignition coil towers. Clip the heater hoses and tubes onto the intake manifold and secure the fittings to the heater core and engine cover. Attach electrical connectors once more for the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor, IAC Motor, ignition coil towers and fuel injectors. Set the top dipstick tube retaining bolt and ground strap into place. Also, finish the job by reconnecting the generator's wires, adding the vapor tube, brake booster hose, speed servo hose and PCV hose as well as the cooling fluid. Remember to attach the resonator and air inlet hose before you fasten the negative battery cable.
