2004 Dodge Dakota Throttle Body Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Body on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before servicing the throttle body, disconnect its air cleaner tube and remove the cables from the IAC motor and TPS. Then, take out all the control cables attached to the throttle body lever arm, according to the process for the Accelerator Pedal and Throttle Cable. Detach the important vacuum lines from the throttle body, remove its three bolts and remove the throttle body from the intake manifold. If the throttle body-to-intake manifold O-ring looks damaged, simply change it with a new one. Degrease or clean the mating faces on the throttle body and intake manifold; afterward, install a new O-ring. Rejoin the throttle body to the intake manifold and use the three bolts to secure it, turning each to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) torque. Refit all the control cables, electrical connectors and essential vacuum pipes and-as a final step-affix the air cleaner duct at your throttle body.
