2004 Dodge Dakota Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Detach a Rocker Arm Assembly on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first thing to do is to detach the battery negative cable, so that the engine will not accidentally start. After that, remove the cover over the cylinder head. When you want to remove the rocker arm from cylinder No. 4, turn the crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 reachs its BDC intake stroke. Rotate the crankshaft for cylinder No. 1 until you reach BDC combustion stroke. Make sure cylinder No. 1 has the exhaust valve on the top for cylinders No. 3 and No. 5. Rotate the crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 reaches TDC ignition stroke for both cylinders No. 2 and No. 6. Ok, put tool 8516 Rocker Arm Remover on the valve spring, press downward and pull out the rocker arm.
