2004 Dodge Durango Antenna Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Antenna on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: The first thing to do when servicing or repairing a satellite antenna is to remove and isolate the battery's negative cable. Drop the back section of the headliner as much as needed to get to the bottom of the antenna. To remove adhesive, wrap two handles with about 18-24 inches of nylon cord. Underneath the dust seal on the antenna's front, slide the cord into place, then use the handles to turn the cord along the adhesive for 360 degrees. Cut the cable from the antenna. With a flat bladed tool, push down on one of the small tabs on the antenna from inside the vehicle and raise one side of the antenna connector up through the roof panel. Push in the opposite part of the connector to disconnect the antenna. To clean up residue, wipe the roof panel with isopropyl alcohol and a towel and when putting on the old antenna, remove adhesive from its attachment surface. For an original antenna being put back, pull the backing off the patch adhesive, put it on the base, then remove the backing from the antenna itself. Push the wire harness through the opening in the roof panel, then press the antenna down until the two retainers connect. Attach the wire harness connectors to the antenna, reinstall the headliner and then tie the battery negative cable back to the wire harness.
