Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: Before servicing the intake manifold, remove the negative cable from the battery and take out both the resonator assembly and the air inlet hose. Remove the throttle and speed control cable, together with the connectors for the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor, Throttle Position (TPS) Sensor, Coolant Temperature (CTS) Sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor. Then, take out the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose and Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose, as well as the generator's and air conditioning compressor's electrical connections. Tear off both radio suppressor straps, detach the ignition coil towers and take out the top oil dipstick tube bolt and ground strap as well. First, bleed the fuel system, then take out the fuel rail, throttle body assembly and their mounting bracket. Drain the cooling system up to the normal coolant level, take out the heater hoses that go to both the engine cover and heater core, remove and leave the heater hoses and tubes on the intake manifold and remove the coolant temperature sensor. After reversing the order of installing the fasteners, remove the intake manifold. After placing the gaskets, set the intake manifold on top of them. Install each of the intake manifold bolts, secure each to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) in the correct order. After that, connect the throttle wire to the speed control wire and reinstall the left and right radio suppressor straps and throttle body assembly. Fix the fuel rail and ignition coil towers and then set and install the heating tubes and hoses onto the manifold, then join the heater hoses to the heater core and the engine front cover. Reconnect all the electrical connectors of the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor, IAC Motor and ignition coil towers with their terminals. Next, add the top oil dipstick tube retaining bolt and ground strap, resurrect the generator cables, connect the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose, PCV hose, fill the coolant, restore both the resonator assembly and the air inlet hose and link the negative battery cable.
