Q: How to Remove and Install an Intake Manifold on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: The first step is to release the negative cable from the battery, afterward getting rid of the resonator assembly along with the air inlet tube. As the next step, detach the cables for the throttle and speed from the car and then the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor and IAC Motor electrical connectors. Release the brake booster hose, the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose, the generator's electrical wiring and the power cable for the air conditioning compressor. Take out the radio suppressor straps on the left and right, the towers from the ignition coil and remove the bolt from the top oil dipstick tube, plus the ground strap. Exhaust the fuel lines after bleed and then pull out the fuel rail and throttle body with its hold-down bar. First, drain the cooling system when engine temperature is low, cut the heater hoses from the front of the engine cover and the heater core and lastly unhook the heater hoses and tubes from the intake manifold. Loose the bolts on the intake manifold retaining components and the coolant temperature sensor, in the reverse order used to tighten them before continuing. Because no approved method exists for fixing the intake manifold, if major problems are detected, it needs to be replaced. Before fitting the intake manifold, wipe the matching surfaces with a proper cleaning solution and let them dry using air. Make sure there are no cracks or damage on the intake sealing surface, check for loose or blocked fittings on the vacuum hose and examine the manifold to throttle body mating surface for anything unusual. Carefully set in place the gaskets, set down the intake manifold where it belongs and install and tighten the retaining bolts by tightening them in sequence up to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Hook up the throttle and speed cables to the throttle body, secure the right radio suppressor strap, mount the throttle body assembly and its clamp, install the throttle cable bracket and attach the left radio suppressor strap. Place the fuel rail and ignition coil towers, install the intake manifold hoses and tubes and secure the heater hoses to the engine and heater core. Link the electrical wires from the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor, IAC Motor, ignition coil towers and fuel injectors back into their outlets. Then, install the last retaining bolt for the top dipstick tube, the ground strap, reconnect the generator's cables, fit the brake booster hose, PCV hose, top up the cooling system, put the resonator assembly and air inlet hose back and join the negative cable to the battery.
