2004 Dodge Durango Vapor Canister Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Vapor Canister on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: You'll find the EVAP canister on the front part of the fuel tank. Before removing it, raise the vehicle and, if the vehicle has one, take out the fuel tank skid plate. After that, disconnect the electrical connector from the NVLD pump and the fresh air line from the vehicle frame. With the lines at the EVAP canister removed and noted, you can easily reinstall them during assembly. Once done with step five, take out the nuts and bracket that hold the filter, disconnect the pump from the canister and pull the canister off the bracket. Place the canister on the support bracket and then connect the NVLD pump to the canister with a clip for the installation. Attach the bracket to the vehicle and mount its nuts and after that, secure the fresh air line to the vehicle body. Connect the rest of the vapor and vacuum lines securely and inspect the NVLD pump, filter, EVAP canister and EVAP canister purge solenoid, because leaks can cause a Diagnostic Trouble Code. After completing the protocol, plug in the electrical connector to the NVLD pump and, once more, attach the fuel tank skid plate if you have access to it.
