2004 Dodge Grand Caravan Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace the Rear Evaporator Core on 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Take the rear HVAC housing off the vehicle, ascertain the rear line extension and then get off the rear evaporator's expansion valve. After that, slide the rubber grommet off of the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes going into the rear HVAC housing by the expansion valve. Take the three screws and three spring clips out of the middle panel and separate and remove the top half of the rear HVAC housing. Withdraw the A/C evaporator from its place in the lower section of the rear HVAC housing. If you are installing a new rear A/C evaporator, put 50 milliliters (1.8 fluid ounces) of recommended refrigerant oil into the system. Loosen the hoses on the new rear A/C evaporator's foam wrap, place the lower part of the rear HVAC housing over them and pop the upper part into place on top. Use the three metal clips and three screws to fasten the upper part to the lower part, tightening the screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Attach the rubber grommet sealing the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes again and then fit the rear expansion valve onto the rear A/C evaporator before reattaching the rear evaporator extension line onto the expansion valve. Install the rear HVAC housing again into your vehicle.
