2005 Dodge Grand Caravan Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Evaporator on 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: You should remove the HVAC housing from up front and take it apart to allow access to the evaporator core. Shut the rubber flange door and move the main A/C housing forward until the evaporator and insulator are lifted out of the bottom front HVAC housing; if the insulator is bent or damaged, change it with a new one. If you need to, take the insulator out of the front A/C evaporator. When putting in a new front A/C evaporator, add 50 milliliters (1.7 fluid ounces) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant side of the system, using only the recommended type for the A/C compressor. If you have removed the insulator, set it over the evaporator, clean the evaporator drain hole and check and limit any disruptions to the flange seal. Then, set the front A/C evaporator into position in the lower front part of the housing and seal the rubber flange, after which you should construct and set the front HVAC housing into place.
