2004 Dodge Intrepid Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: What Needs Inspection and Replacement After an Air Bag Deployment on 2004 Dodge Intrepid?
A: Should a Driver air bag deploy because of a collision, the Driver air bag, Clock Spring Assembly, Steering Wheel and Complete Steering Column Assembly with Lower Steering Column Coupler should all be replaced. If you see any damage on other air bag and car parts, it is necessary to replace them immediately. Any time a Passenger air bag is deployed, the Passenger air bag and Instrument Panel and Pad Assembly must be exchanged, with other components similarly inspected and replaced if needed. A deployed Seat air bag calls for changing the Complete Seat Back Assembly and all parts should be examined for signs of damage. Every seat belt needs to be examined for damage by rips, tears, cuts or fraying after an accident with an air bag or a frontal crash. Afterwards, bring the air bag close to where it was mounted and cover the broken cover over the deployed air bag with tape. Clean out the vehicle by using a vacuum and begin from the outside, making sure you vacuum the filter outlets of the heater and A/c. Should the heater and air conditioner have been in Recirc during deployment, first run the blower motor on the lowest speed, then vacuum out any powder from those areas, repeating as many times as required to get a proper decontamination.
