  A: For service and repair of solid lifters/tappets, start by removing the camshaft and following with inserting the trough from the special kit into the camshaft bore, so the cap goes on first and the open side is on top. One tappet at a time should be removed by unsnapping the rubber on a cylinder pair and sliding the tappet dowel of the adjacent cylinder pair into position. Once the dowel rod is retracted, the tappet will be free to drop into the trough. Lift out the trough and tappet together, without turning them; if the tappet will not be replaced, put a mark on it before setting it aside. Place back the trough and go on to do the same for the next tappets.
