2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Engine Mount on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Make sure to raise and prop up the vehicle before starting engine mount service. Before moving either the engine or the transmission, the engine bending braces should be unbolted as they provide needed structural support and control NVH issues partially. Remove the retaining bolt of the exhaust hanger bracket and then take off the locknut and transmission bending brace bar. After that, remove the engine-to-bending brace bolt, the bending brace bar and the cross bar. Do not secure the retaining hardware until you have installed all your bending braces. Bring the cross brace into place where the engine meets the transmission and secure it with the retaining bolt for that brace. The transmission bending brace goes onto the through brace which is then fastened with a locknut. Attach the exhaust hanger and transmission brace and then secure both parts with the retaining bolt. Also, tighten the engine-to-transmission brace bolt to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.), the transmission braces bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) and fasten the transmission brace retaining nuts to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs).
