2004 Jeep Liberty Door Latch Assembly Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Door Latch Assembly on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: The first thing you should do is remove and separate the negative cable from the battery when fixing the front latch. Sometimes the waterdam gets in the way, so take it out if needed. Remove the bolts (2) from the rear glass run channel and put the channel somewhere safe while you work. First, disconnect the exterior handle rod, then remove the lock knob rod (1) and link the lock cylinder rod to the latch. Reach the five screws (5) and take the latch (3) out and finally disconnect the electrical connectors. To install, hook the latch connectors up, fit the latch assembly (3) into the door (4) and tighten the assembly with the screws (5) to 11 N.m (95 in.lbs.). Reattach the lock cylinder link rod to the latch and the lock knob rod to the lock and finally hook the exterior handle rod to the end of the handle. Fit and fasten the two rear glass channelling bolts to 9 N.m (80 in.lbs.), place and fit the waterdam and link the rear battery ground cable again.
