How to Service and Repair the Drive Shaft on 2004 Jeep Liberty?

Raise the vehicle onto stands, move the transmission/transfer case to Neutral and start services to the rear propeller shaft. Place a reference line on both the pinion yoke and propeller shaft so they line up when you're putting everything back. Remove all the large bolts from the pinion shaft yoke and, if there is one, pry the clamp off of the dust boot on the propeller yoke. Slide the slip yoke off the end of the transmission/transfer case output shaft so you can take the propeller shaft out. If you are installing, take the slip yoke and slide it back onto the transmission/transfer case output shaft, so the reference marks of the pinion yoke and propeller shaft match. After installing the U-joint straps, tighten the bolts to a torque of 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.). If you use Clamp C-4975A, tighten the dust boot clamp. Once done, lift the support and release the car to reach the ground.
