2004 Jeep Liberty Pilot Bearing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Maintain a Pilot Bearing in a 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: You should take out the transmission, then the pressure plate and finally the clutch disc for servicing the pilot bearing. Extract the pilot bearing from the hole by using an internal (blind hole) puller. When installing, put Mopar high temperature bearing grease or an equivalent product into the new bearing. Crankshaft-Bearing Start the new bearing on the crankshaft by hand and finish the job by properly positioning it with a clutch alignment tool. Scuff the flywheel lightly with an 180 grit emery cloth, then use wax and grease remover to clean it. After that, add the clutch disc and pressure plate before you put the transmission back in place.
