2004 Jeep Wrangler A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in an HVAC System for Liquid Hose on 2004 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Taking the system off the battery negative cable and draining the refrigerant should be your first tasks before swapping the A/C liquid line. Take out the secondary retaining clip on the spring-lock coupler screwed to the evaporator inlet tube. Release the liquid line fitting from the evaporator inlet tube by using the appropriate disconnect tool and be sure to place plugs or tape on all opened refrigerant line fittings you have removed. Tear out the O-ring and throw it away, after which you cover the opened liquid line fitting and evaporator inlet port with your hand or a covering. Pull the liquid tube off the right side inner fender clips, then unscrew the nut at the liquid line fitting, taking off the O-ring seal as you go. Again, place a temporary plug or bit of tape in the open liquid line fitting and condenser outlet port before you lift the liquid line out of the engine compartment. Install the liquid line in the engine section and pull off the tape or cover over the fitting and the condenser outlet port. Apply clean R-134a refrigerant oil to a new rubber O-ring seal, then fit the seal on the liquid line fitting and make certain to use only those O-rings and oil suggested by the manufacturer. Attach the liquid line to where it connects to the condenser, then screw the nut until you reach 9 Nm (or 80 in. lbs.). First, set the liquid line inside the round plastic clips on the inside fender's left edge and then pull off the caps or tape that closed the liquid line and evaporator. Add lubricant, insert a new rubber seal O-ring onto the liquid line fitting, attach it to the evaporator inlet and install the secondary retaining spring-lock coupler clip. Afterward, put the negative cable on the battery, pump out all the refrigerant and recharge the system.
