2005 Jeep Wrangler A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in an HVAC System for Suction Hose on 2005 Jeep Wrangler?
A: First, unplug the battery's negative cable and block its end before trying to replace the A/C suction hose/line. Carefully take the suction line out of the plastic clip between the accumulator and take the secondary clip off the spring-lock joining the suction line with the evaporator outlet tube. With the proper line tool, remove the suction line fitting at the evaporator outlet tube and toss the existing O-ring seal. Place tape over the open suction line fitting and also over the evaporator opening in the inner well section. Lift off the bolts or nuts that are fastening the connection between the suction line and the compressor, discard the O-ring seal and with tape or plugs, seal up any gaps left by your removal. Take out the nuts securing the suction lines, free the suction lines from the accumulator, throw away the O-rings from the open ends, cover the openings of these parts with plugs or tape and then remove the suction lines from your car. When putting in components, cut off the covering tape or plugs of each opened suction line fitting and each accumulator port, lubricate the rubber O-ring seals found with clean refrigerant oil and put these on the suction line fittings, making sure all parts are made for R-134a systems and oil for the compressor in the vehicle. After that, attach the suction lines to the accumulator and put two nuts on each suction line fitting. Tighten each nut to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). After opening the suction line fitting and compressor inlet port, slide a new O-ring seal lubed with clean refrigerant oil onto the opening in the fitting and install the line on the compressor, using the right bolt or nut at 25.4 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Unplug the lines or remove the tapes from the suction line fitting and the accumulator outlet tube, place a new O-ring seal, greased with clean oil, on the suction line fitting and attach it. Connect your suction line spring-lock coupler to the evaporator outlet tube and then install the secondary retaining clip onto the coupler. Lastly, put the suction line into the plastic retaining clip near the accumulator. After that, join the negative battery cable, empty the refrigerant system and fill it with the refrigerant.
