The next step is to place the spline of the steering wheel onto the column shaft and install the steering wheel. Put on a NEW retainer bolt (2) and tighten it to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.). Fix the air bag (4) back in place and link up the negative battery terminal and, if fitted with ESP, make certain the steering angle sensor calibrates correctly. Check to see if the horn, lights and all other functions controlled by the steering column are responding correctly in the end.
