2005 Chrysler 300 Wheel Stud Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Front Wheel Studs on 2005 Chrysler 300?
A: Before servicing the front wheel, first lift and secure the vehicle, then take away the front wheel and tire. Lift the hood, find the brake rotor and remove it. On the wheel mounting stud being removed, place a wheel mounting nut (1) until the threads meet the bottom edge of the nut. Apply Remover (3), Special Tool C-4150A, to the hub, bearing flange and wheel stud (5). Turn the screw on the Remover to push out the wheel stud (5) from the hub flange. Taking the special tool off after the shoulder of the stud has passed the flange, remove both the nut and stud from the hub flange as well. First, insert the support stud into the flange from behind, add a stack of washers (1) on top and place a standard type wheel mounting nut (3) with its flat side on the washers. Using nut (3), tighten it down so that the wheel stud goes firmly into the hub flange until the head is flat against the hub flange, then remove the nut and washers. Attach the rotor and caliper to the suspension, secure the wheel and the tire assembly and tighten all wheel mounting nuts to 150 Nm (110 ft. lbs.) torque. At the end, move the vehicle back onto the ground to check if it stops as it should during a road test.
