2005 Chrysler Pacifica Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Timing Cover on 2005 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before servicing and repairing the front timing belt cover, empty the fuel pressure and remove the negative battery cable. Lift the car on a hoist, take off the accessory drive belt and also its tensioner. After that, unbolt the power steering pump and shift it aside and then take off the crankshaft damper. After taking out the front timing belt cover fasteners, drop the vehicle. Place a floor jack underneath the car to support the engine, then take out both the air cleaner housing and the engine's front mount. First, block the connection from the fuel line at the fuel rail and then remove the bolts on the top timing belt cover to remove the front timing belt cover. During installation, make sure the holes connecting the timing cover to the engine are clean and without oil, apply thread sealant to the timing cover bolts connected to the oil pump and clean any oil from the timing cover bolts onto the engine block. First, put in the timing belt cover on the front, then reinstall the upper engine mount and link the fuel line back to the fuel rail. Install the air cleaner housing back, take away the floor jack and make sure the car is suspended in the air. Connect the power steering pump fasteners and screw them down with a tightening force of 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.). When that's done, fit the crankshaft damper. Put in the accessory drive belt tensioner, tightening the holder until you reach 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.), then add the accessory belt. Reduce the height of the vehicle and link the black battery cable back once more.
