2005 Chrysler Pacifica TPMS Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a TPMS Sensor on 2005 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Start by taking off the tire and wheel from the car, while ensuring you do not lose the valve stem cap and its seal so that no dirt gets into the sensor. A damaged aluminum valve stem requires its nickel-plated brass core to be put back to protect it from corrosion. Take the tire off the wheel following the instructions from the tire changer maker, ensuring you do not apply force to the pressure sensor and using a mounting/dismounting tool at an angle between -10 and +10 degrees at the wheel's valve stem. With pressure on the rear of the metal valve stem, remove the sensor nut that holds the sensor in place and take out the sensor. Put a new seal and metal washer at the base of the valve stem just before inserting the existing sensor. Clean the location near the mounting hole for the sensor or valve stem on the rim, making sure it is not damaged. Before you push in the sensor, place your thumb on the rear of the metal valve stem and point the potted end of the sensor towards the wheel. By hand, secure the sensor nut after checking that the sensor housing is flush inside the wheel and avoid over-tightening; a small excess of just 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.) can cause the sensor to separate. Place the sensor valve stem approximately 210° away from the head of the changer when mounting, to be sure not to damage the sensor. Set the air pressure in the tires to the values on the Tire Inflation Pressure Label and be sure the original valve stem cap is tightly on the stem. Attach the wheel and tire assembly to the vehicle, drive at a constant, continued speed over 15 mph (24 km/h) for at least five minutes and allow the system to update itself. Should a sensor fail to train, it is important to refer to the right diagnostic information.
