2006 Chrysler Pacifica TPMS Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a TPMS Sensor on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: For Tire Pressure Sensor service, start by removing both the tire and wheel from the car with its valve cap intact, so that the O-ring seal isn't lost. The aluminum valve stem requires putting in its original nickel-plated brass core to avoid corrosion. Follow the guidelines from the tire changer maker to take off the tire, but move the Bead Breaker far from the portion of the sensor and use the mounting/dismounting tool near the stem where 10° fillers are present. As you hold the nut, pull it off and remove the sensor to ensure you don't damage the antenna strap. Make sure you replace the seal and metal washer at the valve stem before putting on the old sensor. Thoroughly clean up the space under and around the hole where the sensor/valve stem was fixed to be sure the wheel area is undamaged. When putting the sensor through the wheel, hold pressure against the back part of the metal valve stem as you put the potted part of the sensor next to the wheel. With your fingers, install the sensor nut once the housing is flush with the wheel's curves, before tightening to a maximum of 6.5 Nm (about 58 inch lbs.). Ensure the sensor valve stem is placed around 210° from the head of the changer before placing the wheel for mounting, so that the tongue of the bead breaker doesn't touch the sensor. Make sure the tire pressure matches that shown on the Tire Inflation Pressure Label and insert the traditional style stem cap securely. Once set up, reinstall the wheel and tire assembly on the vehicle and drive continuously above 15 mph (24 km/h) for at least five minutes so the system learns the sensor ID and can handle any residing errors. When a sensor cannot be trained, consulting the appropriate diagnostic material is recommended.
