How to Maintain and Fix a Door Hinge on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Put the door on a device that supports it while you open it to repair or service the front door hinge. If access to the inside requires it, remove the bolts that join the door check strap (2) and the lower A-pillar. Lay out the hinge locations similarly on the door jamb and the lower A-pillar for no hassle when fitting the door. Following this, remove the bolts joining the hinge to the door end frame and the lower A-pillar and take the complete hinge out of your vehicle. Place the head of the hinge pin into the door hinge and replace the plastic shipping clip with the correct metal retaining clip as soon as the hinge pin is seated inside the door. Should you want to, paint the hinge on the new door before securing it to the car. Fasten the bolts connecting the hinge to the lower part of the car pillar and to the door end frame, without torquing them down. Align the hinge with your marks and tighten all bolts. If you took the bolts (2) out of the lower A-pillar before, put them back in and attach the strap to the door check. After you're done, inspect the door to ensure it fits well and works correctly and fix the hinge if needed.
