How to Service and Repair a Door Check on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

To service or repair the front door check, first take off the door trim panel and water dam. Following that, release the bolt linking the check strap to the hinge pillar and take out the door speaker and glass run. Afterwards, remove the bolts that hold the check strap to the steel channel and take off the check strap and cover from the car. The check strap should be installed without grease in any situation. At first, attach the cover to the check strap, then fit the door check to the vehicle and install the bolts attaching the strap to the door end frame. Following that, put back the glass run and door speaker on the vehicle if it has one installed. After that, bolt the check strap to the hinge pillar and fit the door trim panel and water dam back into place.
