How to Service and Repair a Cigarette Lighter on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

To service or repair the cigarette lighter in both the front console and back cargo area, first unconnect the negative battery cable. Before removing the base, carefully notice the retaining bosses inside the outlet. Set the external snap ring pliers against the bosses and squeeze to take the snap ring out of the base. Lightly rock the pliers to loosen the base from its mounting ring, remove the base wires and then remove the mount ring to take out the base. For setting up, fit the mount ring to the instrument panel, insert the wires through it, bring the cap into line with the ring and the 9 o'clock index on the key and set it in place. Ensure the base rib is at 11 o'clock direction before you connect the wires to it and apply them to the mount ring. Fit the base tightly into the bezel, screw the cigar lighter cap in and link the battery cable's negative side back to the charging unit.
