2005 Chrysler Town & Country A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Hose at the Rear on 2005 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Refrigerant must first be recovered and the negative battery cable removed to set up repairs or services on the rearmost HVAC hose/line. Move the snorkel and top cover out of the right side air cleaner housing, then pull off the drain tube from the wiper module drain. Take out the nut that holds the suction line to the A/C compressor, cut apart the suction line and toss the old seal. Plug or tape both the suction line fitting and the compressor port after opening them. Detach the hold in the retainer joining the suction line routing clip to the receiver/drier mounting bracket, loosen the nut that holds the front A/C expansion valve's suction and liquid lines and separate the lines while throwing away the O-ring seals. Put a plug or piece of tape into the openings of the fittings. Support and raise the vehicle, take off the tie strap and separate the suction line extension fitting from the underbody suction line, throwing away the O-ring seal. After finishing installation, lower the car and guide the suction line gradually into the engine area. Pull out the tape or plugs from the fittings, coat each new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and insert them into the suction and liquid line fittings. Attach the suction and liquid lines to the front A/C expansion valve and tighten the nut to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.) Fit the retainer on the suction line routing clip, remove all tape or plugs over the A/C compressor port and the suction line, grease a new O-ring and link the suction line to the compressor. Make sure to use a wrench to tighten the nut over the connection to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.). Put the drain tube back in place, place the air cleaner top cover and snorkel and reattach the negative battery cable. Lift and hold the vehicle again, take the tape off the suction line extension fitting and underbody line, grease another O-ring seal and fit the extension to the underbody line, torquing it to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.). Attach a new tie strap slightly in front of where the rear heat-A/C links are, drop the car down, get rid of the refrigerant and recharge the system.
