2004 Chrysler Town & Country A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace the A/C Hose for Underbody Refrigerant Lines on 2004 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Before you replace the underbody refrigerant lines, evacuate the refrigerant from the system and set the vehicle on a lift. Slide off the underbody refrigerant lines from the three straps and two rear clamps you can access from behind the rear wheel. Take the front liquid line extension fitting away from the rear underbody air conditioner liquid line, discard the O-ring seal and cover both fittings with plugs or tape. You should also do this for both of the other suction lines, getting rid of the O-ring and tightening the caps. Unhook the underbody refrigerant line sealing plate from the rear evaporator extension line sealing plate, throw away the O-rings and secure the fittings and ports. Pull the ABS harness apart from the hose clamps and remove the refrigerant lines from under your vehicle. Take the nylon wedge away from the workbench that links the underbody refrigerant lines to the sealing plate. When installing, place the nylon wedges on the sealing plate, then return the refrigerant pipes to their places within the vehicle. Bring the ABS harness into place, remove any tape or covers from the suction and liquid hoses and make sure the sealing plate on the rear evaporator line is free of plugs. Moisten the O-rings you purchased with clean refrigerant oil and then attach them to the liquid and suction line's copper fittings. Match up the sealing plate under the refrigerant line with the sealing plate on the evaporator extension line and thread a bolt in firmly until the tension reaches 23 Nm/17 ft. lbs. Remove the tape or plugs from the extension and underbody suction lines, put a new O-ring seal on the extension fitting and join the pieces, gently tightening to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Do this same thing for the liquid line rear section extension fitting and the underbody liquid line fitting. After everything is done, release the weight of the vehicle, drain the system from its refrigerant and charge it as necessary.
