2005 Dodge Caravan Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Initiate the Operation of a Power Steering Pump on 2005 Dodge Caravan?
A: When doing the first operation, turn off the engine and check the pump fluid to avoid being moved by the operating parts. Prevent the use of Ms5931 and Ms9933 Mopar fluids and only use Atf+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid (Ms-9602) in the power steering component for its best performance. Fill your cart only up to where it is comfortable to carry. When the temperature is about 70°F to 80°F, make sure the fluid level is inside the "Fill Range." If you want to remove your filler cap, start with cleaning the cap as well as the area where it is, first. Check the instruction manual for the proper fluid level and let the car sit after you have filled it for two minutes or more. Turn on the engine and let it work for a few moments before you turn it back off. When required, fill up with fluid and run the engine again to ensure that fluid level doesn't drop further while it runs. Pump up the front of your car, start the engine and move the steering wheel from right to left, making only enough contact with each wheel stop to check they are working properly. If it gets too dry, add more fluid. Lower the vehicle and steer the wheel one way at a time from one extreme to the other. Turn off the engine, check the fluid and top it up if necessary. Should the vehicle's fluid seem foamy then, let it stand for a few minutes and try the procedure again.
