2005 Dodge Dakota Clutch Fork Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Clutch Fork on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before servicing or repairing the clutch release fork, remove the transmission, disengage the release bearing from the fork and then take out the bearing. If the release bearing slide surface of the transmission front bearing retainer is scored, worn or cracked, replace the retainer. Check both the release fork and fork pivot and ensure the pivot is strong and remains undamaged, with the fork being free from wear. In case the release fork retainer spring is bent or in poor condition, install a new one. Apply a little Mopar high temperature bearing grease to the pilot bearing, input shaft splines, both bearing retainer surfaces, fork pivot and release fork pivot. Attach and fasten the release fork and bearing, after which you need to install the transmission again.
