2005 Dodge Dakota Cruise Control Servo Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Cruise Control Servo on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before working on the cruise control servo, pull off the negative battery cable and then take out the air cleaner filter housing assembly. After that, remove the vacuum line from the servo and take out the electrical connector from the servo as well. Take out the three screws from the servo mounting and unplug the cable at the throttle body. Remove the bolts supporting the black plastic sleeve on the servo cable, pull the black plastic sleeve and its attached parts away from the mounting bracket and take out the cable retaining clip. Take care when removing the servo from its bracket, noticing how it is attached. While installing, place the servo near the mounting bracket and place the cable cable connector hole above the servo's pin hole. Secure them with the retaining clip. Insert the servo studs into the bracket and use the two nuts to secure them by applying the right amount of torque. Fit the servo assembly into the inner fender and secure it with three screws that are tightened as directed by the specifications. Link the vacuum line and the electrical connector to the servo and afterwards link the servo cable to the throttle body. Finally, reinstall the air filter housing assembly and make sure the negative battery cable is well connected. Prior to starting the engine, use the accelerator pedal to ensure it is not binding.
