2005 Dodge Dakota Throttle Body Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Body on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step in servicing the throttle body is to pull out the air cleaner tube and separate the electrical wires from the IAC motor and TPS. Then, after removing the cables on the Accelerator Pedal and Throttle Cable, remove all control cables from the throttle body lever arm too. After disconnecting the vacuum lines at the throttle body, unscrew the three bolts that attach it to the manifold and then carefully remove the throttle body. Test the O-ring on the old throttle body-to-intake manifold and change it upon discovering any leaks or cracks. After cleaning the areas where the throttle body joins the manifold, set a new O-ring between them. Affix the throttle body to the intake manifold, then use the three bolts to secure it, tightening each to 12 N-m (105 in. lbs.). Attach the control cables, connect the electrical lines and fit all essential vacuum lines. Following this, you should fit the air plenum.
