2005 Dodge Dakota Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Wiper Arm on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Raise the wiper arm to its over-center position so that the wiper blade is away from the glass and the tension between the wiper arm and pivot shaft is released. Take out the cap on the plastic nut near the pivot end of the wiper, then remove the bolt that holds the wiper in place. In case you have to remove the wiper arm, use an appropriate tool to pull the wiper arm away from the pivot shaft and take the wiper arm pivot end from the shaft. Before mounting the motor, turn On the ignition switch and shift the multi-function control knob to Off to make sure the motor is in the park position. Wait until you see that the wiper pivots have stopped and then turn the ignition switch back to Off. Lift the wiper arms and place them on the pivot shafts with the wiper motor parked; then align the pivot end of the wiper arms onto the shafts so that the lower edge of the wiper blade matches with the wiper adjustment lines hidden in the upper margin of the lower windshield. Push the wiper arm down after releasing some of the tension in the spring on the part that fixes onto the pivot shaft. Tighten the nut connected to the wiper arm on to the pivot shaft to a force of 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.). First, wet the glass, use the wipers for a while and then turn the wiper switch to Off to see where the wipers are parked. Put the plastic nut cap back over the wiper arm pivot nut.
