2005 Dodge Durango EGR Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate and Replace the EGR Valve and Solenoid Assembly on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: The electronic EGR valve and solenoid assembly are installed on the rear of the left cylinder head. Remove the plastic windshield cowl panel and the windshield wiper motor to begin the job. Two bolts connect the EGR valve tube to the intake manifold; take these bolts out, but leave the tube on the EGR valve side. Take the gasket found between the EGR valve solenoid and the tube flange off, detach the connector at the solenoid and remove the two bolts attaching the solenoid to the engine to finish. Take off the gasket that sits under the EGR solenoid. When mounting, wash the gasket zone at the left cylinder head's rear and also at the connection of the EGR tube to the EGR valve. Lay a new gasket between the EGR valve and the cylinder head, then secure the EGR valve to the cylinder head with the two bolts in place at a torque of 9 Nm. Add a gasket between the EGR tube flange and the EGR valve assembly, ensure the EGR tube faces towards the EGR valve entrance, put the EGR tube end into the intake manifold and fasten the two bolts to 11 Nm. Connect the electrical connector to the EGR valve solenoid at the top and then put back the windshield wiper motor and plastic windshield panel.
